Novel Submissions
We are currently open for novel submissions. If you have a book which you think would find a happy home with Crowvus, we would love to hear from you.
To submit your book to us, please send two excerpts. One of these should be the beginning, but the other one can be from anywhere in the book. Choose a part of your writing of which you are particularly proud. We’re not going to set a word limit to these parts, so use your own judgement to decide where there is a natural break. We’d also like a full synopsis which should include an explanatory link between your two excerpts. We love stories with a twist, but how much of the twist you want to reveal in the synopsis we will leave up to you.
In your cover letter, please let us know a few bits and bobs about yourself and your book:
- Your name (and pen name if you use one).
- The email address which you would like us to contact you on – please make sure your inbox is set to allow mail from both submissions@crowvus.com and the_team@crowvus.com We may contact you from either of these.
- Your book’s approximate word count.
- Why you think Crowvus is a good fit for you and your book. For example: which of our books does it best link to? or what themes have our books explored which also feature in your own novel?
- You are also welcome to share a brief summary of your writing journey if you wish. We do love to read these, but they are totally optional.
In terms of the sort of books we’re looking for, the answer is all sorts! We’re not fans of gratuitous anything in books, though, so no erotica, and excess sex, violence or gore is not for us either.
Also, please be aware that animal cruelty is a hard sell. We find this sort of action to be decidedly evil and do not enjoy reading about it. So if your protagonist partakes in this, or a sufficient comeuppance is not received by anyone guilty of it, your book is unlikely to be right for us.
We aim to respond to writers within three months and we will let you know our decision one way or another. If you haven’t heard from us by the three-month mark, please let us know. We are not setting a closing date on this window, but will close once we have found the next Crowvus author!
All submissions should be sent to Submissions@Crowvus.com
PLEASE NOTE: The submissions email is unmanned and – in the case of the Christmas Ghost Story Competition and Hooded – no submission is read until after the deadline.
